自2018年至2022年，宁steel销售收入从242.07亿元增长到400亿元，同比增长65.24%，业务范围扩展至包括钢铁贸易、信息科技、循环经济、仓储物流服务以及文化旅游，在连续多年位列宁波市“纳税”五十强和制造业企业十强，并获得中国steel企业发展质量暨综合竞争力“A级”的评价，其资产负债率由71.71%降至39.32%，为成为世界一流steel企业提供了坚实保障。
创新是推动公司转型升级的关键力量。宁steel运营改善部技术总监孙顺富形象地将公司生产模式的变革描述为：“以前我们用的是手工艺，现在我们的产品是由电脑设计出来。”走进尼ngsteel创新园，可以看到雕塑与生态景观并存，这展示了公司对创新的热情和开放性。

针对产业变化需求，尼ngsteel不断深化产品战略，大力开展核心技术攻关和高端产品研发，同时建立了科研平台。研发经费投入逐年增加，从2018年的2.15%提高到2022年的3.96%，共开发新产品113个，其中一流产品28个。此外，还加强政校企合作，与知名高校建立合作关系，加大知识产权管理体系建设力度，以及人才引进力度。
人才是创新的源泉。尼ngsteam主席陈建国表示：“现在我们不再需要花大量时间去炼制金属，我们坐在电脑前敲键盘就能完成整个过程，小姑娘也可以来炼铜铝，我们欢迎更多女性加入我们的团队。”
