sells newspapers. She would walk around the streets, calling out to passersby, "Get your newspaper here! Only five cents!" Her voice was clear and loud, but her eyes were filled with shyness. She was just a little girl trying to make a living.
My sister's story is not unique. There are many children like her in this world. They may not have the luxury of having a famous sister or brother, but they have their own dreams and aspirations.
For example, there was a boy named Xiao Ming who sold peanuts on the street corner near my house. He would wake up every morning at 5:00 AM to roast his peanuts over an open flame before setting off for school. After classes, he would head back to his stall and sell them until nightfall.
Another child I knew was Ling Ling, who lived in our neighborhood. She would help her mother sell vegetables at the local market every day after school. She loved listening to stories about different fruits and vegetables from her mother and dreamed of one day becoming a chef.
These children may not be as famous as my sister now, but they are no less special or talented in their own ways.
As we celebrate my sister's success as a starlet on stage and screen, let us also remember these unsung heroes - the children selling newspapers on street corners or helping their parents run small businesses. They are the backbone of our society today just as much as they will be tomorrow.
Their stories remind us that success is not solely measured by fame or fortune; it can be found in even the simplest acts of kindness or hard work each day.
And so we must cherish these moments with them while we still can - whether it's buying an extra newspaper from that young seller or simply stopping for conversation when passing by their makeshift stalls.
By doing so, we honor those who paved our way through diligence alone; those who give without expecting anything in return; those whose light shines bright despite being hidden behind ordinary garb - like my dear cousin-sister-the-selling-newspaper-boy-girl-turned-movie-star-who-is-not-so-different-from-us-after-all-in-this-vast-world-of-life-and-living-behind-the-scenes-of-a-million-stories-being-written-and-re-written-everyday-until-we-come-to-know-that-nothing-is-as-it-seems-for-every-story-told-holds-a-secret-hidden-between-the-lines-and-when-we-step-back-to-contemplate-these-realities,-we-find-that-even-in-amidst-the-most-trivial-seeming-actions,-there-is-a-tale-worth-hearing:-the-tale-of-my-sister,-a-big-star-whose-story-started-with-her-as-an-ordinary-selling-newspapers-kid-on-the-street-but-ended-up-as-a-shining-light-on-stage-and-screen-like-many-others-before,-and-after-,just-like-any-other-person-born-with-dreams-burning-inside.-
